My first responsibility and priority is towards the children in my care. If I have any cause for concern I will report it, following the local Safeguarding Children Board procedures in England. 

I understand that child abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional, neglect or a mixture of these. 

• I will ensure that I keep up to date on Child protection issues, I am fully trained in advanced child protection.
• I will ensure that all household members are Police checked. 
• Should an allegation be made the allegation will be documented and the appropriate service be notified immediately. 
• Confidentiality will be maintained at all times.

I am obliged to record anything that gives me cause for concern. These records will be kept in the strictest confidence. 

Parents will normally be the first point of reference but I have a duty to report any suspicions to the Social Services. This may be done without the parents knowledge and in confidence to the Social care team.
